An Overview

Brockelsby Investment Services of Irmo, SC, is an independent, fee-only firm that caters to the needs of small business and the small investor. Our goal is to provide affordable solutions and quality service for businesses and individuals of modest means who are seeking investment advice and management. We also take pride in explaining investment strategies in easy-to-understand terms. It really doesn't have to be as complicated as the financial pundits would have you believe!

The sole proprietor of BIS, Jeff Brockelsby, has been managing investments for more than 20 years. In 1993, he took over the investment portfolios of his family business, Black Hills Reptile Gardens, Inc., in Rapid City, S.D., and Brockelsby Trust Investments. In 2008 he passed the Series 65 Uniform Investment Advisor Exam and became a Registered investment Advisor. That same year he founded Brockelsby Investment Services, a firm registered with the State of South Carolina.

Jeff has been the Corporate Treasurer for Black Hills Reptile Gardens, one of the most prominent tourism businesses in the Midwest, since 1991 and has managed the business's 401(k) investments since 2000. The plan currently has 20 participants with $3.2 million in assets. He holds group and individual meetings regularly with employees to advise them on 401(k) investments. Altogether he manages more than $5.5 million in individual, corporate and 401(k) investments.

Jeff holds a B.S. in Radio-TV summa cum laude from Bradley University and an M.S. in Journalism from South Dakota State University. He also has a Certificate in Biblical Studies from Columbia International University. He is a graduate of the Crown Financial Ministries personal finance class and is a Certified Crown Financial Class Leader.

In addition to his financial experience, Jeff has worked as a television and newspaper reporter. He has also worked on Capitol Hill and served as a Staff Assistant for Senators Tim Johnson of S.D., Byron Dorgan of N.D., and George McGovern of S.D.

Jeff has been listed in Who’s Who in America from 2001-2010 and is a member of American Mensa and the Triple Nine Society. He has resided in the Columbia, SC, area since 1995.
